Mykal Cochran May 16, 1992 – February 29, 2012 RIP

My nephew Mykal Cochran passed away on the 29th of February 2012. I have changed my header on my FB page to honor his extraordinary beauty, strength and courage. Mykal was an incredible young man filled with kindness. Love and grace. He was born with a heart condition and faced hardships throughout his life that challenged him on a day to day basis. Mykal forged forward no matter what and set an example to all those around him of endurance and triumph. He was victorious!

Please keep all his loved ones in your prayers at this their time of loss and need. God bless you Mykal.. I love you! You will be so dearly missed… not just by those whose lives you touched, whose paths you crossed but by all those who will now never have the honor and privilege of knowing you as we did. But you will live on, we are your legacy and your stories will be carried on through us. My tribute header to Mykal will remain until this time next year. You are free Mykal now you spread your wings and you fly, you fly away from all the things of this world and into Gods loving arms.. Gods speed!

O Great Spirit, whose voice
I hear in the winds
And whose breath gives live to all the world, hear me
I come before you as one of your many children
I am small and weak I need your strength and wisdom
Let me walk in beauty make my eyes ever behold
The red and purple sunset
Make my hands respect the things you have made
My ears sharp to hear your voice
Make me wise, so that I may know the things you have taught my people
The lesson you have hidden in every leaf and rock< br/> I seek strength, not to be superior to my brothers
But to be able to fight my greatest enemy -- myself
Make me ever ready to come to you
With clean hands and straight eyes
So when life fades as a fading sunset
My spirit will come to you without shame

Whitney Houston

"I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside." -Whitney Houston

What has become common place after the death of a person such as Whitney or even those who pass and are not famous is heartbreaking. Death rides in on a pale horse that people enjoy taunting with rumors, speculations and the worse from ones past. I say it to you now as I have many times before, let the dead rest in peace and do not profane the legacy left by those who are no longer with us. I speak only for myself and the truth is that if the worse of my life were plastered by the media it would not devastate me because of my faith but that said it would effect me. I try to live my life open and unashamed but this is easy to do because I do it in the privacy of my closest circles of family, strangers and friends, cyber or otherwise. Whitney has a daughter and family that deserves to mourn her with dignity and respect. Back the fuck off... please!

It is simple enough don’t post hateful, hurtful, ugly things about Whitney. Like all of us she made her choices and she suffered the ramifications of the bad and the rewards of the good. God bless you, one & all.

Occupy Wall Street

Woman from the press being falsely arrested on Saturday September 24, 2011 in New York City, Occupy Wall Street Photograph by Occupy Wall Street
There are and have been thousands of people in New York that have occupied Liberty Square and have been marching peacefully since September 17th. They stand and march together against everything I have heard everyone I know from family to friends and strangers complain about over the past few years. The economy, high cost of living, shelter, food and hundreds of thousands being robbed of their dreams and their homes. On Saturday a peaceful march turned violent when police began to beat, mace and arrest not just people that were participating in the march but anyone the police decided to arrest without reason or cause. Once in jail many were denied their rights to medical treatment and phone calls. Occupy Wall Street rested on Sunday and are still in possession of the square and regrouping… please keep them in your prayers. I wish I was there but am here so I am showing support in ways that I can through prayer, blogging and posting. Spread the word, love and support. Check out Occupy Wall Street and decide for yourself. We can make a difference in this world for the better not just for some but for one and all! God bless everyone and do not be dismayed! Keep fighting the good fight!
